Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes which successfully relaunched the dormant Planet of the Apes series to box office and critical success. As Caesar tries to keep the peace between Humans and Apes, one of Caesar's advisers Koba (Toby Kebbell) motivated by hatred from years of cruel experiments voices anger at Caesar's human dealings and a desire for war. When a group of human survivors lead by Malcolm (Jason Clarke) unknowingly traverse into Caesar's territory intent on repairing a dam to provide energy to their settlement, Malcolm attempts to negotiate with Caesar to allow him to do so.
Ten years after Caesar (Andy Serkis) lead his group of genetically enhanced apes into the wilderness, their society has thrived with Caesar and his allies creating a thriving civilization as human kind has been killed off by what was dubbed the 'Simian Flu' from the failed GenSys Alzheimer's drug.
